Technical:

Delivery & Lead Time:
- Orders will generally take about 2 weeks to arrive for UK customers but this can vary dependent on the size and structure of an order. We manufacture all our holds from our Manchester location so can achieve good turn around on almost all orders
- The shipping prices include VAT.
- When ordering from outside the UK, please be aware you may be charged import duties. For EU orders, please contact us for shipping quotes.
- If our couriers are unable to deliver to your requested delivery address we will notify you and refund you within 10 days.
Fixing:
Please read before commencing setting:
1. Holds should be fixed to a flat surface – uneven surfaces risk the hold spinning and/or breaking upon attachment.
2. All holds (excluding screw-ons) can take either a countersunk or cap head M10 bolt as standard. Every hold has a added M5 counter screw placement to prevent spinning. For surfaces where secondary M5 screws are not possible, a risk assessment should be carried out to determine the likelihood and impact of holds spinning and the suitability of each hold for the substrate it is to be affixed to.
3. For the Mini Volumes & Super sets (and any hold with an M10 bolt and more than one M5 screw option), we recommend using a bolt and all screw placements. When setting at height, it is good practice to use all available fixation points. Our Fibreglass Volumes should be attached using all available screw placements with a washer at every point.
4. When attaching holds with M5 screws, fully threaded M5 woodscrews are to be used, ensuring at least 10mm of screw thread is protruding from the back of 18mm birch plywood or greater. Ensure sufficient torque to prevent rotational movement. Avoid using existing holes in the plywood as fixing points. Impact drivers are not recommended for fixing woodscrews as they can damage thread in the wood and the head of the screw if not used with care. Woodscrews are generally not recommended for repeated use and should be inspected or discarded after each reset. Screws featuring ridges or ‘nibs’ under the head must not be used as these will damage the hold/volume and erode the placement area, potentially resulting in the failure of the attachment point.
5. Torque settings are recommended for fixing the holds to an even, untreated and flat 18mm plywood surface using M10 Bolts (hold sets listed below are for size reference):
Small Holds – Mini Bolt-ons, Crimps, Mini Jugs, Micro Jugs, Small Crimps, Slots: 30 – 35Nm
Medium Holds – Pockets, Medium Jugs, Roof Jugs, Domes, Mini Wedges: 35 – 40Nm
Large Holds – Large Jugs, Pinches, All Slopers, Wedges, Mini Volumes, Super Sets: 40 – 45Nm
The surface condition and age of the T-nut and bolt may change the torque value applied due to the change in friction, the accuracy of the tightening method can also greatly affect torque values. The compressibility of the wall surface can prevent torque values from being achieved and risk damage to the hold and/or the T-nut. Please be aware that different wall surfaces require different torque settings to prevent spinning – smooth and gloss painted walls will need greater levels of torque applied to holds compared to grip painted abrasive surfaces. Where a counter screw(s) is utilised as a secondary fixing point, the lower torque setting can be applied. A full risk assessment based on the specific wall surface should be carried out to determine the likelihood and implications of holds spinning and necessary action taken.
Cleaning
- Holds should be cleaned using clean water to remove surface chalk and dirt.
- If using a pressure washer/jet washer, this must be done with care as they can damage holds, macros and volumes
- Allow to air dry completely before storage or resetting.
- Do not use heat to dry the holds as this can cause damage to hold, macros and volumes
Maintenance & Inspection
We advise visually inspecting and checking holds for cracks, chipping, sharp edges and burrs at regular intervals in accordance with your risk assessment. We advise checking holds in the first few weeks after placement and then every three months. Holds should be removed at least once a year and inspected at the attachment points. If any damage is suspected holds should be disposed of immediately in an appropriate environmentally friendly waste bin, away from opportunities to remove and reuse.
